Learning Objective: To understand how Peter was feeling in prison and how God helped him.

Watch the video about how Peter ended up in prison.

How did Peter hear from God?

Write a letter to the prison guards asking them to let Peter free.

Remember that Peter was put in prison because he was teaching people about Jesus.

Think about how Peter must have felt as he was put in prison because of who he believed in

Learning Objective: To know how the Church celebrates important events in the Catholic Calendar

If we were allowed to go to church now, we would see that the Easter candle would be lit. This candle is blessed on Easter Saturday and stays lit for 40 days. Easter lasts for this long as we wait for the next gift from Jesus. The Easter candle is also known as the Paschal Candle. Watch the video to learn about the importance of the Paschal Candle.

Can you design your own Paschal Candle with all of the important features?

Learning Objective: To hear, read and become familiar with the main events, characters and places in the life of Jesus: The Resurrection.

Here is a piece of artwork that shows a really important part of Jesus’ life.

What can you see in the picture?

How do you feel about the picture?

Do you know what happened before this?

Why did this happen?

Who is in the picture?

Challenge: If you go for a walk today, look up in to the sky. If there are clouds, can you make a picture with the clouds in your mind? If there aren’t any clouds, imagine what is beyond the sky.

Good Friday

The information below explains why Good Friday is such a special day for Christians. Read the information and look at the pictures and then have a go at answering the questions below.

Questions

Why did Pontius Pilate wash his hands?

What happened to Jesus when the guards took him away?

Where was Jesus’s body placed after he had died?

How did the disciples feel?

Activity

Draw a cross, like the one below, and then decorate it. Can you write words around it explaining why Jesus died on the cross for the world?

Maundy/Holy Thursday

Today is called Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday. It is a special day as Jesus had his last meal before he died. He knew he was going to die but his twelve disciples did not. Jesus was Jewish so they had a special celebration meal together called The Passover Meal. Watch the video below.

Questions

Why did Jesus’ disciples not want them to wash their feet?

Jesus came to serve us. What does that mean?

Challenge

Can you draw a picture of Jesus and his twelve disciples eating The Passover Meal? Write underneath what happened at the meal.

Holy Wednesday

Matthew 26:14-16 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus

14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What will you give me if I betray him to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that moment he began to look for an opportunity to betray him.

Today we think about when Judas decided to betray Jesus. This is a sad time as Judas was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples, a close friend. He wanted to hurt Jesus for 30 pieces of silver (money). He made the choice today.

We need to think about our choices today.

Questions

What would you do for 30 pounds?

Would you hurt your friend for a new toy?

What makes you happier, new things or friends?

Challenge

Can you write a prayer to God asking Him to help you give up things you want but don’t always need? We should always think about things that we have extra of, to give to those who do not have enough of what they need.

Don’t forget to keep emailing me your work, or commenting with your answers, so that I can choose a Star of the Week this week!

Monday and Tuesday Holy Week

Today we focus on Monday and Tuesday of Holy week. Watch the video below to see what Jesus did in the Temple on Monday.

Questions

He cleared the temple. Why?

Is it okay to be angry?

He was very angry with what the merchants (sellers) had done to the Temple. Have you ever been so angry that you have changed something for the better?

On Tuesday Jesus preached and went to the Mount of Olives after clearing the Temple on Monday. He spent Monday and Tuesday of Holy Week preparing everyone for what he knew was coming, Easter. He knew that he was going to die to save everyone.

Today, I would like you to help to clean your house and then make some things to decorate ready for Easter. You could draw some pictures of eggs and colour them in or have a look at the website below if you have some eggs at home your parents can help you to decorate.

Palm Sunday

Yesterday we celebrated Palm Sunday. It is the day we remember Jesus riding on a donkey in to town. Many people knew that he was the son of God but some people did not. We know this day as a happy day. It is the first day in Holy Week.

There is a song we normally sing in school a lot this week. Could you practise this song at home. Your parents could record you singing and send it to my email so I can put it on the blog 🙂

This week is more important than the lead up to Christmas. Keep following Mr Davis’ blog to help guide your prayers this week.
