What have we been up to in school this week?

Image

We started Monday by having breakfast and having virtual assembly with all of the people in school. We have some technical issues but Miss Barr saved the day!

We have planted tomatoes, beans and peas in both the Year 1’s and Year 2’s outside areas. I wonder if we will get any fruit growing on them.

Talking of fruit…

Some of the Year 1 children realised that Year 2 don’t have a fruit tree in their garden like we do. They asked Mrs O’Brien nicely and she asked Mrs Tibbits and Mrs Puar. The next day this apple tree arrived!

ImageMrs Puar also spent some time with us teaching us how to plant a hanging basket. This adds colour to our garden and makes it even prettier. We have lots of plants to look after now. I don’t think we will need to worry about watering them tomorrow but we need to pray for sunshine!

We built a maze out of large boxes and spent hours learning about position and direction. We take it in turns, one at a time, and wash our hands before and after to keep us safe.

We needed to do some meditation before lunch to calm down after the Maze excitement.

Running a mile a day has helped us to get fit. Some of the Year 1 children are now even faster than a lot of the Year 6’s! How will you do next week?

On Thursday we welcomed back the children Year 1B so that we can have more children back next week.

We have been learning to bake something new every week. This week we made Miss Barr’s chocolate chip cookies. They were better than the ones you buy in the shop!

For Refugee Awareness Week, the children decided to paint their homemade instruments as brightly as they could. They said that music makes everyone feel happy and welcome so it was a good way to use their instruments. Watch this space to hear the music that they make.

If you aren’t in school, don’t worry. You can still comment on the blog, email me or I can call you. Remember to still social distance to keep everyone safe.

What have we been up to at school this week?

This week we have had lots of fun. Take a look at what we have been doing as well as Phonics, Maths, Handwriting, English and R.E.

Making musical instruments. Next week we will paint them.

One of my plants had outgrown its pot at home. I haven’t got space to plant it in my flower bed so the children rescued it and gave the fuchsia a nice new (bigger) home in the Year 1 garden.

The children learnt how to make a loaf of bread. They worked hard kneading the dough and were very patient when it had to be left alone to rise…twice!

It was definitely worth the wait!

We always start our day with milk and toast delivered to our classroom. What a treat! One day we even watched Mrs Tibbits’ assembly.

The children use my laptop to video call their friends on Teams. If you want to do this (or video call me) just let me know and I can book you in a time. It doesn’t always work but we persevere.

We stay fit and healthy by running each day; joining in with Joe Wicks P.E.; Cosmic Yoga or playing football on the playgrounds. The teachers join in too 😉

And plenty of cleaning…

This week I will try to get some photos that include my face! 🙂
