The Irula people are mainly Hindus. We learnt about Hinduism last half term and even went to the temple.

For your art lesson today,  I would like you to plan, draw and colour in a rangoli pattern on paper.

Remember to make your patterns the same all of the way around. Start by drawing your shape and then put it in to sections. Colour each section the same as the others. Just use 3 or 4 colours so it is not too tricky.

I would love to see some of your artwork. Email them to me and I will put them on the blog tomorrow 🙂

Here are some pictures of places where our new book is from. (The book with pictures of pumpkins that I showed you yesterday). There are some pictures of a tribe. This tribe is where the story came from. They have been telling this story for many years.

Questions to talk about with your parents:

What can you see in the pictures?

What part of the world do you think this is? Why?

How do you think the Irula people live their life?

Have you seen beautiful mountains and lakes like these before?

Can you describe the buildings or the people’s clothes?

How do these pictures make you feel?

 

If you hadn’t already guessed, these pictures are taken in India and the Irula Tribe live in Tamil Nadu and Kerela. Look at the map of the world below to see where India is.

Task:

Write down (on paper, email or in the comment box) everything you know about India. If you don’t know a lot, write down any questions that you have or things you want to find out about India or the Irula tribe.

I am going to start a new book with you, just like we do in English at school. We read this book very slowly together, sometimes not even reading words! I am not showing the front cover yet but just some of the pictures inside. This is a picture of the pages before the story starts.

This is your first online Music lesson and I am very excited. Click on the picture of the unicorn below and it will take you to the Charanga website that we use in school.

I have emailed you with your log in details. Check your emails to find out your username and password for the website.

If you are struggling, ask your Mommy or Daddy to email me and I can send your log in details to them.

Work your way through each section, like we do at school. You just click on the different parts at the side. You do not need to complete them all today. Have a go at the first 1 or 2 sections today. There are some questions to think about whilst listening to the music 🙂
