Once upon a time, there was a pixie called Pippety Skycap who lived in the corner cupboard in a room just like yours. Pippety loved to have fun and loved to giggle, but most of all he loved to play tricks.
One cloudy morning, he woke up feeling full of mischief. So, he put on his best
blue jacket, squeezed into his spotty boots and set off to find some fun – hoppity skip, hoppity skip, hoppity skip. Soon, he came to the old stone bridge where a grumpy troll was sleeping. “Now for some fun!” giggled Pippety and he pulled a soft feather from his pocket. Nearer and nearer he crept to the troll until he could tickle his warty nose with the feather. “A-A-A-CHOO!” The poor old troll woke up with a huge sneeze and tried to grab the tricky pixie. Luckily, Pippety was a tiny pixie, a teeny pixie and he slipped through the troll’s fat fingers. Off he sped – hoppity skip, hoppity skip, hoppity skip. Next, he came to a prickly bush where a ginger cat was watching the birds. “Now for some fun!” giggled Pippety and he snapped off a sharp thorn from the bush. Nearer and nearer he crept to the cat until he could prick her tail with the thorn. “OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!” The poor cat spun round with a yowl and a howl and swiped at the tricky pixie. Luckily, Pippety was a tiny pixie, a teeny pixie and he dodged the long, sharp claws. Off he sped, hoppity skip, hoppity skip, hoppity skip.
Soon, he came to riverbank where an old toad was dozing on a shiny lily pad. “Now for some fun!” giggled Pippety and he pulled a bright blue balloon from his pocket. Nearer and nearer he crept to the toad until he was right beside his ear. He blew and he blew and he blew until – BANG! “My poor ears!” croaked the toad and he wibbled and wobbled and finally fell into the river with a gigantic splash.  Unfortunately, Pippety had not seen that on the next lily pad was the King Toad. It looked at him with mean, beady eyes, flicked out an enormous tongue and covered him in a thick, sticky goo! “YUCK!” cried Pippety and he ran off, squishing and squelching and squelching and squishing all the way home. That evening, Pippety Skycap had a long, hot bath, snuggled up with a mug of hot chocolate and thought about his day. He remembered the sticky, oozy goo that had covered him head to foot and frowned. “I’ll just have to be a careful tricky pixie tomorrow,” he mumbled and settled down to plan some more mischief!

What have we been up to in school this week?

Image

We started Monday by having breakfast and having virtual assembly with all of the people in school. We have some technical issues but Miss Barr saved the day!

Image

Image Image

We have planted tomatoes, beans and peas in both the Year 1’s and Year 2’s outside areas. I wonder if we will get any fruit growing on them.

Talking of fruit…

Image

Some of the Year 1 children realised that Year 2 don’t have a fruit tree in their garden like we do. They asked Mrs O’Brien nicely and she asked Mrs Tibbits and Mrs Puar. The next day this apple tree arrived!

Image

ImageMrs Puar also spent some time with us teaching us how to plant a hanging basket. This adds colour to our garden and makes it even prettier. We have lots of plants to look after now. I don’t think we will need to worry about watering them tomorrow but we need to pray for sunshine!

Image

Image

ImageImageImageImage

We built a maze out of large boxes and spent hours learning about position and direction. We take it in turns, one at a time, and wash our hands before and after to keep us safe.

Image

We needed to do some meditation before lunch to calm down after the Maze excitement.

Running a mile a day has helped us to get fit. Some of the Year 1 children are now even faster than a lot of the Year 6’s! How will you do next week?

On Thursday we welcomed back the children Year 1B so that we can have more children back next week.

Image

Image

Image

We have been learning to bake something new every week. This week we made Miss Barr’s chocolate chip cookies. They were better than the ones you buy in the shop!

Image

Image

For Refugee Awareness Week, the children decided to paint their homemade instruments as brightly as they could. They said that music makes everyone feel happy and welcome so it was a good way to use their instruments. Watch this space to hear the music that they make.

If you aren’t in school, don’t worry. You can still comment on the blog, email me or I can call you. Remember to still social distance to keep everyone safe.

Home learning

It is Friday so all I’ll be asking you to do is your spelling test 🙂

Parents-Here is the list of spellings for the week. Read them out in a different order and give your child as much time as they need to attempt to spell them. When marking, focus on the positives and choose one improvement to work on, if they need it.

Enjoy your weekend. You have lots to get on with in your home learning pack! Try some baking, go for a walk (exercise is so important) and I hope to see more of you next week.

Keep and eye on what we have been up to in school.

What have we been up to at school this week?

This week we have had lots of fun. Take a look at what we have been doing as well as Phonics, Maths, Handwriting, English and R.E.

Making musical instruments. Next week we will paint them.

One of my plants had outgrown its pot at home. I haven’t got space to plant it in my flower bed so the children rescued it and gave the fuchsia a nice new (bigger) home in the Year 1 garden.

Image Image

The children learnt how to make a loaf of bread. They worked hard kneading the dough and were very patient when it had to be left alone to rise…twice!

Image Image

Image Image

It was definitely worth the wait!

Image Image

We always start our day with milk and toast delivered to our classroom. What a treat! One day we even watched Mrs Tibbits’ assembly.

Image

The children use my laptop to video call their friends on Teams. If you want to do this (or video call me) just let me know and I can book you in a time. It doesn’t always work but we persevere.

Image

We stay fit and healthy by running each day; joining in with Joe Wicks P.E.; Cosmic Yoga or playing football on the playgrounds. The teachers join in too 😉

And plenty of cleaning…

This week I will try to get some photos that include my face! 🙂
