So after 10 days of being in the butterfly tent in their chrysalis, the caterpillars transformed into beautiful butterflies and emerged before being released. Thank you so much for waiting for me to come back to school to release them! What an experience!

Bug hotel in Year 2
Today Year 2 started to learn about the impact that rubbish has on wildlife. They ere upset to hear that the RSPCA have, on average, 14 calls a day about injured wildlife due to litter. We decided to raid the rubbish by our big school bins to create a bug hotel in our garden. Last half term they learnt how important bugs are, especially bees, to our world so we need to look after them. We even used bamboo cut down and dried from our bamboo house in the garden. Learning to use a hacksaw was good fun!
Tell all of your big friends that they are welcome at St Vincent’s!
Do greenhouses really work?
We have made mini greenhouses ready to grow things in to test them out.
Afternoon Yoga
Yoga helped us to stretch out after all of the running we did at lunch time yesterday!
The children said the it is harder than they thought!
Monday-Half Term Activities
Yesterday was St Valentine’s day!
St Valentine is the Patron Saint of love, young people and marriage so we celebrate love on his feast day.
Write a little note or make a card in secret to give to someone in your house to show them how much you love them. Do this in secret and don’t write your name on it. It will make them smile!
Amazing work from 29th January 2021
Online Learning
Hello Year 2,
Now that we are at home for quite a few weeks, we are going to put all of the practise in the computer suite to good use. You are amazing children who have worked very hard to learn some very complicated things on the computers. Because of that, you are going to be the first class to try live Teams lessons with me. We will start on Thursday 7th January with:
Maths at 11:00am
Theme 1:00pm
Make sure you have something to write on and you log in to BGFL before the lesson so you are ready for when I start the lesson. If we do well with these lessons we will try 3 on Friday.
I am looking forward to seeing you all on Teams tomorrow!
Miss Barr 🙂
Making an apple and pear crumble
Today we have made an apple and pear crumble. Miss Barr had some cooking apples from her Dad’s garden and we’re don’t really like eating pears at playtime.
1. First we washed our hands…we are becoming pros at this now!
2. Then we peeled and chopped the fruit before Miss Barr stewed it for us.
3. Next we made the the crumble topping before sprinkling it over the stewed fruit.
4. It smelt divine when it came out of the oven.
Then came the best bit…the taste testing! We certainly polished the whole thing off!
Describing where numbers sit on a numberline
We use stem sentences to help us to explain what we know in maths. What us use some of them below…
Can you show your parents how you use stem sentences to explain these numbers?
Stories from the Old Testament
We have been reading some of the well known stories in the Old Testament. God gave us all talents, including the people in these stories. Although the didn’t always get things right before Jesus came, they tried served God as they thought they should.
David and Goliath
David was given the gift of faith. He had faith in God to help him defeat the Philistine Goliath. This helped to save the Israelites.
Noah’s Ark
Noah was given the gift of trust. He trusted God to look after him and his family when the flood came. God promised never to do this again.
The Call of Samuel
Samuel was given the gift of listening. He listened to God and delivered His important messages to the people.
What gift did God give you?
How will you use your gift?
