What do you think this book might be about, and why? Whose arriving, the man or the animal? How do you know?

Write sentence answers to these questions in your red books.

1. There are lots of birds in this book, both real and paper. What feelings or ideas could they symbolise? Do you think they are positive or negative?
2. What do you think the dark tentacles could represent? (Think of some of the causes of the refugee crisis from Wednesday’s video).
3. For much of the story, the main character is  in some very unusual surroundings. How do you think he might feel? What adjectives could you use?
4. Which picture do you think is the saddest? Why?
5. Which picture do you think is the most hopeful? Why?
