We have been learning about Katherine Johnson recently in our literacy and theme lessons. We’ve been so inspired by her incredible work as a mathematician, we’ve started writing some biographies about her.
Here is some of our planning for the biography!

Year 5, what do you think was the most interesting fact about Katherine? Drop a comment below! (Brownie points if you include a relative clause)
i cant think of a fact but i have a question. Was katherine’s older sisters even smarter than her if she was the youngest ?
Good question, Natasha ๐ I’ve done some research, but I just can’t seem to find an answer! It would make sense if her parents instilled a similar work ethic onto her siblings.
katherine johnson, who is african-american,risked her life to work at a liferisking place.
Natasha, who is an incredibly intelligent young lady, has really impressed me with her knowledge of relative clauses. ๐
Hi Miss Khaliq. Here is my sentence for my relative clause.
Miss Khaliq, who is a very hard working teacher,is great at planning some stuff. #Miss Khaliq ROCKS!!!!!!
Here’s mine
Miss kaliq, who is very hard working, tells me to try my best
Katherine Johnson ,who works at NASA, was determined to make her dream come true
(Just like Miss kaliq)
These comments, which were posted by my lovely pupils, have made me smile. ๐ keep up the hard work, girls!
If Katherine that smart, was she smarter than all the scientists altogether?
