Family phonics 5.10
It is is lovely to see the children showing their family what they are learning in school.
This weeks family phonics session is on again 8:45-9:10 on Thursday.
We Are Authors
We have been so busy being authors and publishers today. Our books are ready to be sent to Viviane Schwarz, the author of How to Find Gold.
Maths this week
In this weeks maths lessons we are going to carry on using the Part-Part-Whole method to complete number sentences. The children have been using the frames and counters to complete number sentences.
When 9 is the whole number there are 5 different combinations of 2 parts….
- 0 and 9
- 1 and 8
- 2 and 7
- 3 and 6
- 4 and 5
We are looking at lots of different ways of writing the same number sentence.
- 0+9=9
- 9+0=9
- 9=9+0
- 9=0+9
Getting married
During our RE lesson today, we have talked about what a wedding looks like in a Catholic Church. We listened to the words that are said by the Priest and the responses from the bride and groom. The children even acted out a wedding!
We are making books for the author of our class story
We tweeted the author of our class story , How To Find Gold, and she replied! We are going to be working hard in Year 1 to write a similar story. We will then make them into books to send to Viviane Schwarz.

Maths today 2.10.17
Today we have looked at the Part-Part-Whole model. We tried lots of different ways to make 10 only using 2 parts. Then we used fruit to group into 3 parts to make one whole. After that we used the model to write number sentences.
Finally we noticed that equals means ‘the same as’ so it can either way around like this…
2+2+2=6
6=2+2+2
