This morning Year 4 had a class mass. We were joined by Father Solomon and Sister Catherine. The gospels spoke about Jesus’ ascension and Sister Catherine informed us about Peter’s change after the Holy Spirit came down.
Ukulele Workshop

Thank you to Miss Bashford for organising a Ukulele Workshop for Year 4 and their parents. Also, thank you to all of the parents who joined us. It was lovely to see so much parent involvement whilst the children taught their parents how to play different songs.
Rounding visually
“I know that 574.106 rounded to the nearest hundredth is 574.11 because when you round to the nearest hundredth, you need to check the value of the number in the thousandth column. There are 6 thousandths, therefore, the 0 hundredths are rounded to 1 hundredth. 574.106 rounded to the nearest hundredth is 574.11 .” Kye
Money Problems!
Rounding decimal numbers/ money. We have been investigating how many pennies we would need to add/ take away to get to the next £. Which is closer? We are now understanding the concept of rounding to the nearest £.
Miss Antonio: Would you rather 12x20p or 5x50p?
“I would rather have 5x50p because 50p is more than 20p.” Maisha
“But you get 12x20p and only 5x50p.” Miss Antonio
“I know that 5 50 =2.50, 12 20p=2.40 so you get 10 more p with 5x50p.” Maisha
Adding decimals
Using counters to understand adding decimal numbers and exchanging 10 tenths for 1 whole.
8.3+2.9.
Scrabble Club
Some children in year 4 meet once, weekly, to play scrabble. You may not know this but scrabble is helping us with our spellings and maths.
Dental Hygiene
Last week, Year 4 had a visit from the school nurse who discussed (with us) how we can keep our teeth clean.
Thank you.
Practical Fractions
We went into the hall to see how many different fractions we could make with the number of children present. We also responded (practically) to some fractions questions.
What do seeds need, to germinate?
We recently investigated what seeds need in order to germinate. Can you recall any of these necessities?
