Recycling

Today in Science, we learned about recycling; what recycling is, what we can recycle and how we can recycle. We sorted the items into the different recycling bins and then made a Recycling Pledge.

What do you know about recycling?

Computing – Algorthims

This week we began our new computing unit to sequence simple algorithms and programs

We took part in an activity where one child pretended to be the computer and the other child was the programmer. They sat back to back, the programmer giving instructions to the computer to carry out.

Act of Sorrow

Prayer service

The children have been learning about sorrow this week. Sorrow is a feeling of deep distress and sadness caused by a loss, disappointment or other misfortune suffered by oneself or others. sorrow can be as a result of a loss of a job, loneliness, rejection and so much more.

The children had a time of reflection during our prayer service and completed the missing words in the Act of Sorrow prayer.

children also learnt that it is ok to reflect and be sorry our actions, for the things we may have said or done and that if we have faith and ask for forgiveness, God will forgive us.

Money in Maths

Since returning to school, Year Two have been looking at money. We have been exploring the different coins and notes, using vocabulary such as pounds and pence.

We worked in pairs, buying items from the shop and using our maths calculations to find out how much change to give to the customer.

Exploring 3D shapes

We had lots of fun exploring 3D shapes; talking about the edges and faces of a 3D shape

“It has 6 flat faces and 12 edges. It is a cube!”

“My shape has two faces face; one curved face and one flat faces. It is a cone”

“This shape has five flat faces and nine edges. It is a triangular prism!”

“A cylinder has 2 flat faces and one curved face. It has two edges”

Come Lord, come again

Come Lord, your wounded world is yearning
for you to come again.
Come Lord, your weary world is crying out
for you to lift us up
out of our despair, our hunger,
our thirst for something better,
our need for the food that will last.
Come Lord, come again,
we need to begin again.
