Today we found out about the importance of washing our hands properly and we have been learning this song.
Here are some of the pictures. We put some special gel on our hands and then washed them and when we put it under the light if we could see some white parts it meant that they were the bits we didn’t wash very well.

Our new theme in Year 1 and Year 2 after the holidays will be Celebrations.
Please have a look for any photos you have at home of Celebrations that your children have been to that we can talk about in class. It would be great to see them.
We really had a good day last Friday when we celebrated Nigeria day in school. We all wore our green and white clothes.
In Year 1 we made Nigerian necklaces. We stuck beads, pasta and straws on them. We can’t wait to take them home after the holidays.

Our theme this half term has been Homes.
We have looked at lots of different homes. Year 1 and Year 2 all worked together to make some homes out of Lego and Duplo. We then designed our on paper. Once each of the groups had decided on what to make we then began to build our homes out of all the junk modelling materials that we had been saving in our classrooms over the weeks. We stuck the parts together using glue, tape and staple guns. We had to work together as a team and sometimes this was hard, but we managed it.
The next day we began to cover our houses with mod-rock, this stuff made the whole of KS1 white and even covered all of our clothes. We really enjoyed making the houses.

A nurse came to speak to us before the holiday about looking after our teeth.
She told us about how many teeth we have. We talked about not eating too many sugary foods. She also showed us how to brush our teeth properly.
Year 1 have been learning how to use a ruler to draw lines and have been using them to measure things. We really enjoyed measuring the worms.

Over the last few weeks we have been reading The Magic Porridge Pot.
We made some porridge with blackberries and enjoyed tasting it.
I’m sure some of the children would like to have this for their breakfast.
