This half term – Year 6 are studying the tragic path of Macbeth. Wrote in 1606, the Thane of Glamis succumbs to his desire for power by killing King Duncan.

As part of our learning, we would like as much information as possible about the author of Macbeth. If you have any knowledge or facts about him please leave them in our comment box.

  1. William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon April 26th of 1654 and died April 23rd of 1616.
    William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet, and the “Bard of Avon”.
    Shakespeare had three children: Susanna, Hamnet and Judith. Hamnet and Judith were twins.
    Some phrases that Shakespeare wrote in his plays are things we still say today.
    We don’t know the date that William Shakespeare was born – we just know the date that he was baptised.

  4. KING Macbeth of Scotland, on whom Shakespeare’s play was based, died on August 15, 1057.
    August 15 may also be the day on which he became King after his forces killed King Duncan near Elgin probably on August 14, 1040.
